No free book-of-the-month for Jan. Now for the good news…
There’s good news and not-so-good news.
The not-so-good news, as the heading above already mentions, is that I won’t be making available a free read this month.
The reason is that I’m working hard on making available a whole bunch of books in print editions!
These will be the Print-On-Demand editions of my backlist I’ve been talking about for several months.
The plan is to make available all my previously published books that are currently out of print, via online orders.
That means the books won’t be available in brick-and-mortar bookstores at all.
They will only and exclusively be available through online orders.
The upside of that is this way I can keep them available indefinitely. So they’ll always be in print, so to speak. And anyone can be sure of coming online and ordering a copy.
Which beats hunting through bookstores for a particular title which happens to be out of stock on that particular day that you go to buy it – which happens a lot when your books move as constantly as mine do.
You can see a list of some of my previously published books in the right-hand sidebar. The plan is to reissue all of them.
But that’s not all. There will also be several books that will be virtually new to most readers. For example, I have three short fiction collections lined up. The first is Devi Darshan: Dark Tales from which I previewed a few sample stories last month as December’s free read. Of the dozen stories in Devi Darshan, some have been published before in various international genre magazines, some have never been published before anywhere, and there are at least two that I’ve written exclusively for the collection.
And all of these stories will be appearing for the first time in book form.
Then there’s the first book in the Vortal series.
The three crime novels which prompted the Indian media to brand me the country’s “first” Indian English crime novelist back in 1993.
A mainstream ‘bestseller’-type novel titled ‘Bombay Times’, portions of which have only appeared in an earlier form as an online serial on a website, now fully revised, rewritten and appearing for the first time as a complete novel.
And lots more.
Watch this space over the next few weeks for more details.
If you’re a reader of my Ramayana Series, Vertigo, and have enjoyed my work so far, I can guarantee you will be able to get all the books by Ashok K. Banker that you knew I’d written but couldn’t find in any bookstore…until now.
